From December 21st through 29th, Jewish communities across Russia and around the world celebrated Chanukah, marking the memory of those events that occurred more than two thousand years ago, when the Jews expelled invading pagan peoples from Jerusalem, thus restoring its freedom and the sanctity of the Temple.
